Flautist - Violinist - Teacher
Amla is a freelance Flautist, Violinist & teacher, performing regularly across Melbourne, namely in the world music quartet Huanchaco. Highlights include a tour with Huanchaco across Australia, New Zealand, & Chile, where they appeared on CNN Chile. Huanchaco is also active in the community, helping smaller organisations through their music with the aim to connect with people from all walks of life to the wonder of music. She is also very active as a sessional and studio musician, often making guest appearances in various other ensembles and groups. She is also an Alto in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus.
With a Masters in Music (Performance Teaching) on flute at the Conservatorium of Music (Melbourne University, 2019), Amla graduated from WAAPA in 2008, before moving on to study her Graduate Diploma of Education at Monash. Amla is also an accredited Suzuki Teacher on flute (Primary).
Amla is very passionate about continually developing and growing as a teacher and musician, and is actively experimenting and learning to play (and teach) in as many different styles and ways as possible.
